Cardiovascular Medicine Outreach

As part of a Land-Grant university, a major mission of the Cardiovascular Medicine Division is to provide state-of-the-art cardiovascular care to the citizens of Missouri, particularly those residing in rural communities. On a daily basis, a team consisting of a cardiologist, a nurse, and a cardiac sonographer drive to a city in mid-Missouri to conduct an outpatient cardiology clinic. In addition to providing cardiovascular consultation, the team provides non-invasive cardiology services, such as cardiac stress testing and arrhythmia monitoring. When necessary, patients seen at outreach venues are referred to University Hospital or Columbia Regional Hospital for inpatient evaluation or more specialized cardiovascular testing. Over 2,500 patients were seen by Cardiovascular Specialists at outreach sites in 2007.

Communities currently served by our outreach program include:

  • Boonville
  • Fayette
  • Ft. Leonard Wood
  • Fulton
  • Macon
  • Marshall

For an appointment to see a cardiologist or to schedule diagnostic cardiac testing at an outreach location, please call 1-800-359-0098, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
